Offense

As of now the offense still starts and ends with running back Jamaal Charles, but tight end Travis Kelce may soon have something to say about that.

While a running back is going to be able to help set the pace and tempo of a game more than a tight end, Kelce sure carried the Chiefs in the first quarter last week, and Kansas City never looked back.

The third-year pass catcher finished with six receptions (on six targets), 106 yards and two scores. The second of which near the end of the first quarter, went for 42 yards and included one amazing celebration.

It’s obvious he is establishing himself as a top tight end in the game, and should give the Denver defense, not near as good as the Texans, trouble.

Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin was inches away from having a near-100 yard game after what was originally called a 39-yard reception, was nullified by instant replay. Smith looked Maclin’s way more than any other player last week (eight targets), and expect him to be involved in the offense despite a minor back injury.

Charles is always capable of a breakout game, and look for his numbers to slightly increase from last week after facing a front seven that is decent, but not near as talented as Houston’s.
