Ahhhh, Thanksgiving. Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, wine (just me? Okay), and football. Such a great holiday.
In 2006, Kansas City Chiefs fans had an even better Turkey Day when their hometown team got to host the very first primetime Thanksgiving NFL game. What an honor for Kansas City and for Arrowhead Stadium!

This 2006 game saw the Chiefs hosting the Broncos in a fun Thursday night match up between two division rivals. Trent Green and Jake Plummer were the two quarterbacks that year and were both trying to help their teams make it into the postseason as a Wildcard, as the San Diego Chargers dominated that year (ended the year at 14-2).
The Chiefs struck first with a Lawrence Tynes field goal and later went up 10-0 on a Larry Johnson touchdown run. That would be the only touchdown the Chiefs would see for the entire game, but Lawrence Tynes was able to tack on three more field goals in the second half.
Trent Green didn’t play his best game, going 13 for 22 with no touchdowns and an interception. Plummer went 25 of 39 with a touchdown pass to Stephen Alexander and one interception.
While it wasn’t the most exciting game, the Chiefs were able to pull out a win, and you have to admit… It’s pretty cool that Arrowhead Stadium was the host of the first primetime Thanksgiving game in NFL history.
