B+. . . Kansas City Chiefs. DEFENSE

The Chiefs defense struck immediately with a takeaway on the Texans’ first offensive play. And the pressure never let up.

Five Chiefs posted sacks: defensive end Allen Bailey (two), linebackers Justin Houston and Derrick Johnson and nose tackle Jaye Howard.

Hoyer was benched, their leading rusher posted 42 yards and they committed 6 penalties.

Houston proved again that he’s all-but unblockable. He’s a walking mismatch and a weekly difference-maker.

His sack-fumble on 3rd-and-14 from the Texans’ own 16-yardline was probably the straw that broke Houston’s back.

The KC Chiefs scored the next play, making it 27-6 in the second quarter and leaving the Texans with a mountain to climb.

They forced seven punts, one fumble, one turnover on downs and held Houston to 3-for-14 on third down efficiency.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

While the defense gave up some big plays, they didn’t allow a second-half score until late in the fourth quarter.

Tip your cap to DeAndre Hopkins. He’s a professional wide out and he acted like it.

After that? Not much. Hoyer was benched, their leading rusher posted 42 yards and they committed 6 penalties.

The defense was solid all-around. They protected the lead, took the ball away and kept the pressure on throughout.
