Orlando Calixte saw brief time in the majors this season, and while it’s unlikely that he’ll see a lot of playing time for the Royals, he could be a useful pinch runner.

Calixte was called up in April after Alcides Escobar missed some time due to the infamous Lawrie slide into second base. He had three at bats in two games and scored a run, but his batting average is .000.
His first appearance was when Omar Infante sustained an injury in the Oakland series and had to leave the game. Christian Colon was already filling in for Escobar at shortstop, so Calixte was put into the game.
Calixte’s chances of being a September call up are good, simply for the fact that he is already on the 40-man roster and could be used as a pinch runner or in case of an injury.
