The KC Royals sit atop the American League with a record of 73 wins and 46 losses. With a 14.5-game lead in the AL Central, the Royals are playing for home-field advantage through the postseason.

What a pleasure to be able to write something like this.  Instead of fighting day to day to make one of the Wild Card spots, the Kansas City Royals own a 14.5-game lead in the American League Central.

Even more promising,  according to Fangraphs, the Royals have a 99.9% chance of winning the division, and a 100% chance of making the playoffs (admittedly, that seems a bit high, although Bovada has stopped taking bets on the winner of the Central).

More from Kansas City Royals

While nothing is a sure thing, this has to make fans feel even better about the Royals.

What I’m trying to say is, things are going well when you can plan on resting your best players in September and have conversations about who you want to play (and when) in the playoffs.

Now, for the sake of conversation, let’s say the Royals do hold on and get the number one “seed” in the American League.  Then what? Who would be the best match-ups for the KC Royals come the post season?
