KC Royals Most Disliked Rival Player of 2015 Number Five: Chris Sale

The beef with Chris Sale comes from one game this season, which took place back in April. More of that incident will be explained in a later post (because believe it or not, another White Sox player makes this list), but I’ll just mention what led to Sale being disliked.

More from Kansas City Royals

Sale squared off against Yordano Ventura in a late April match-up that really began the Royals/White Sox rivalry this season and things got pretty heated to say the least.

Sure, the White Sox were probably irritated that they had to stand around during the Royals’ American League Championship ceremony on Opening Day and that they got swept in that series. They were also probably irritated that the Royals didn’t just creep back into the background once this season began like a lot of teams were hoping they would.

With all of that said, things got ugly in the first game at U.S. Cellular Field. In a game where the benches cleared and things got a little heated between the two teams, Chris Sale’s part came in after the game was over with.

It was reported that after the game had wrapped up (after 13 innings and a Royals victory, mind you) Sale went to the Royals’ clubhouse looking for Ventura. Apparently Sale wanted to fight Ventura. It’s not surprising that he was later suspended for his actions.

Sale seeking out a fight in the clubhouse puts him at number five on this list.
