Now we move on to the bat aspect.

People were freaking out when Alex Gordon went down with an injury two weeks ago (myself included for sure), but the Royals have fared just fine without him so far. I’m not knocking Gordo here, I love Gordo, but Jarrod Dyson and Paulo Orlando have stepped up on both offense and defense. The Royals have gone 8-4 in games since Gordon’s injury.

People will disagree with me on this stance of not wanting to trade for a Cueto or a Hamels, and I’m completely fine with that. That’s their opinion. I just don’t want to take a risk on trading with the Detroit Tigers for Yoenis Cespedes or David Price and giving them Finnegan for the next however many years. Other areas where I’ll complain:

  • I don’t trust Cueto after his most recent start, which is why I’d stay away from him. His last appearance saw him only pitching four innings while allowing four runs and walking five batters. Not ace-like at all, and not worth giving up prospects for. I get that he’s human, but what it would take to get him is not worth it in my opinion.
  • James Shields brought a lot to Kansas City, but he’s too expensive now. No thanks.
  • Jeff Samardzija is too much of a trouble maker. I’ll pass.
