Royals Rumors: Royals Should Not Make Huge Trade

My point is that despite Ventura’s recent struggles, the Royals have reliable guys in the rotation. My suggestion would be to go after someone like Mike Leake or Jesse Chavez. Both are solid pitchers with their current teams who wouldn’t break the bank and likely wouldn’t cost too many prospects.
They’d only help the rotation, but wouldn’t necessarily have the pressure of having to step in and be an immediate ace for a team they’re not familiar with.
With all of that said, my main “absolutely not” stance is that I do not want to trade Brandon Finnegan. Finnegan proved to be a young pitcher with potential last season, and he’s not worth trading for a guy the team might only have for two months.

I feel like trading Finnegan would likely only come if we traded for a guy like Cueto, and people might see that as a “guaranteed” World Series appearance.
Nothing is guaranteed in sports though.
Just because the Royals trade for Johnny Cueto does not guarantee them a World Series win or even a World Series appearance. I don’t think it’s worth the risk of losing your first round pick from only a year ago, who happens to be a guy who was the MVP in the Wildcard game in September and has shown potential this season.
