Week 10: Chiefs at Bills (Chiefs won 17-13)

Kansas City Chiefs fans had grown to hate the Buffalo Bills over the years. It just seemed like the Bills, despite how bad they often were, always had the Chiefs’ number whenever the two would play.

The Bills honestly have become another member of the AFC West with how often the two match up (2015 will be the eighth consecutive year these two have squared off). Fortunately, the Chiefs had the winning laugh in 2014 when they traveled to Orchard Park in week 10.

Unlike the year prior where the Chiefs faced Jeff Tuel, Kansas City had a familiar foe to face under center last season in Kyle Orton. Orton had played for the Chiefs in 2011 and went 2-1 as a starter. He took place of second year man E.J. Manuel in Buffalo, and Chiefs fans weren’t looking forward to this game due to the history of these two teams.

It just seemed like the Bills, despite how bad they often were, always had the Chiefs’ number whenever the two would play.

The Bills led for almost the entire game, and it looked like the Chiefs were about to lose to their non-division foes once again. Bryce Brown ran the ball into the end zone for what would have been a touchdown, but Ron Parker managed to punch it out and prevent the Bills from taking a 17-3 lead early on in the third quarter.

That was the turning point of the game.

On fourth and one in the fourth quarter, Jamaal Charles broke through with a 39 yard rushing touchdown to put the Chiefs within a touchdown of taking the lead. The Chiefs did just that when Alex Smith rushed for an eight yard touchdown late in the game to put the Chiefs ahead, and not look back. Smith even let out a little yell after the run, and you had to applaud him for that. The dude was fired up!

With the Bills having multiple attempts to punch the ball into the end zone and take the lead, they were not able to succeed, and Kansas City went on to take the second straight win from the Bills.

This game was fun to watch because the Chiefs scored their only two touchdowns in the fourth quarter showing they could indeed come from behind in big games. Their defense kept them in the game, and Ron Parker punching the ball out from Bryce Brown’s grasp was huge in giving the Chiefs a fighting chance in this game.

This was the fourth game in a row that Kansas City had won, and their fifth in a row was one of the best they played all season.
