Welcome to the opening round of Kansas City Sports Bracketlogy: Best Seasons In History.

Here in this post you will be able to vote on 16, first-round match-ups of your favorite KC sports seasons.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

The rules are simple: Read and vote. Come back Tuesday to read, and vote for the rest of the first round.

Round of 32 match-ups begin a week from today, and voting will continue until readers crown their favorite Kansas City sports season from the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas State Wildcats, Missouri Tigers and Sporting KC.

Your job is to decide which KC season was most successful.

What makes this bracket challenge great is you get to decide. On the following pages you will vote which “season” will move on in the East and West regions, with results posted on this site Thursday. Tomorrow we will post the North and South regions.

(1) 1985 KC Royals vs. (16) 1895 Missouri Football

Ok, anything can happen but if the World Series-winning Royals can’t win this one it might go down as the biggest upset in the history of sports.

The 1895 Mizzou football team was a juggernaut in its own right. The Tigers, led by head coach Pop Bliss won seven of their eight games (the most up to that point) and earned their third straight Western Interstate University Football Association conference title.

What that means I’m not really sure, but the quarterback must have been a BMOC.
