Dwayne Bowe certainly had his issues during his time in Kansas City, but there is no doubt he one of the bests ever pass catchers to put on a Chiefs’ uniform.
Although Chiefs upper management has struck out on nearly every wide receiver draft pick since 2000, they struck gold with Bowe.
He is the franchise’s all-time receptions leader among wide outs with 532, as well as yards (7,155). His 44 touchdowns are fourth on the list.
As good as Bowe, who signed with the Cleveland Browns this offseason, was in Kansas City, he could have been every better.
After surpassing the 1,000-yard mark three out of four years from 2008-2011, Bowe never had more than 801 receiving yards his final three seasons with the Chiefs. He also only scored eight touchdowns during that stretch, including zero in 2014.
He missed the first game of the season that year for a drug-related suspension. Coupled with his lack or productivity, his off-field issues were enough to make it time for the two to part ways.
Bowe’s 2010 season will go down as one of the best ever for any Chief after tallying 72 receptions, 1,162 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Look for Bowe to come back to Arrowhead down the road for his induction in to Kansas City’s Hall of Fame.
