Carlos Carson may not be a household name to younger fans like Dwayne Bowe is, but he finished his 10-year career with twice as many Pro Bowls.

His 1983 and ’87 seasons in Kansas City are ones to be remembered as the former LSU standout (just like Bowe) combined for 135 receptions, 2,395 yards and 14 touchdowns.

His 1,351 yards in ’83 were a single-season record at the time, and today are just second to Alexander’s 2000 season. Carson scored a touchdown every year except his rookie campaign, and amassed 33 total.

He exceeded the 1,000-yard mark three times in his career, and had at least 46 catches five times.

One thing that may hurt Carson when all-time Chiefs’ are the discussion, is the fact he played during arguably the worst era in team history. During his decade-long career, Carson’s teams only won 10 games once — in 1986 — and were dispatched in the first round of the playoffs that season.

It was the only postseason game for the Chiefs during that time.

Carson certainly had nothing to do with the ineptitude, as he ranks seventh in team history in receptions, fourth in yards and tied for sixth in touchdowns.
