Had Derrick Alexander not had such a brief career in Kansas City, he may have ended up higher on the list. However, in just four short seasons Alexander managed to average more than 900 yards receiving and 53 receptions each year while scoring 19 touchdowns.
To this day, his 1,391 receiving yards in 2000 are a team record. He finished in the team single-season, top-10 in yards, receptions (78) and touchdowns (10) during that amazing year.
His final season in KC (2001) was a down one that consisted of a nagging abdominal injury, but his three-year average from 1998-2000 of 62 receptions, 1,071 yards and 5.3 touchdowns would match up against any similar stretch in team history.
Despite the short stint in the Midwest, Alexander ranks in the top-12 in team history for receptions, yards and total touchdowns.
Alexander played with three franchises in his career (Cleveland/Baltimore, Kansas City and Minnesota), amassing 417 receptions, 6,971 and 40 touchdowns. He accumulated almost exactly half of his career numbers while playing with the Chiefs.
