Kansas City Royals: Ranking The Bullpen

Franklin Morales isn’t considered as one of the better relievers, but he’s still been really good in 2015. Coming from Colorado where he posed a not very good ERA of 5.37 last year, Morales was put into the Royals bullpen, and has been the guy the team leans on when a member of H-D-H is unavailable, or they need to get a left-landed batter out.
Morales was one of those names coming in where we figured he’d rarely be used or would be put into games where the Royals were way behind. Instead, Morales has become a nice lefty option out of the bullpen and has provided the Royals with yet another great arm to rely on.
Morales’ most recent outing was a decent one. He allowed one hit against the Minnesota Twins in 1.1 innings pitched, but didn’t allow a run.

Since May 6th, when Morales gave up four runs, his ERA is 1.69 over 21.1 innings. Not too bad for a free agent signing this off season.
Hightlight of 2015 so far: Morales hasn’t really had any “WOW!” or “CRAP!” moments, but his most impressive performance likely came against the Indians in early May. Morales pitched two innings and despite allowing a hit, did not allow any runs and struck out two batters. It was only a day after his worst outing as a Royal.
Lowlight of 2015 so far: The day before the last appearance I mentioned was Morales’ worst. He pitched one inning against the Indians and gave up four hits and four runs. That one inning saw Morales’ ERA balloon up from 1.80 to a 4.91. He since has brought it down to 2.78, but again, he’s looked pretty solid since that rough outing. Everyone is due to have a bad game or inning from time to time.
