Denny Matthews is in the Hall of Fame as a Ford C. Frick Award recipient for his many years as a Royals broadcaster.
Six other Hall-of-Famers spent some time in the Royals uniform. Orlando Cepeda, Joe Gordon, Whitey Herzog, Harmon Killebrew, Bob Lemon, and Gaylord Perry.
Herzog and Lemon both managed the Royals, and the other four joined Kansas City in the twilight of their careers.

According to the Baseball Almanac, Brett was elected with the fifth highest percentage of votes ever at 98.19%. Only Tom Seaver, Cal Ripken, Nolan Ryan, and Ty Cobb accumulated higher vote percentages.
