To be honest, when Joe McKnight got injured, it was really disappointing . Like Cyrus Gray, McKnight got injured, tearing his Achilles tendon in practice after the third game, according to NFL.com.
Because of his versatility, McKnight may have offered some real help to an offense that struggled at times, and he may have been an asset on kick returns.
That third game of the season, when Jamaal Charles was out with an injury, was a good one for McKnight. He carried the ball just once for three yards against Miami, but he caught six passes for 64 yards, and two touchdowns. He also returned three kicks for 65 yards, and made one tackle. A nice afternoon of work.
It is hard to say how much more McKnight would have helped the team with his versatility, but his production in week three highlighted his potential.
It is hard to give a player a great grade for basically a lost season. Still, he really came through for the KC Chiefs in a game where they needed him to.
