The Kansas City Chiefs are rolling, winning four games in a row and jumping to 6-3 on the year. The Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills on Sunday by a score of 17-13 in what looked like a game that the Chiefs really had no business winning. The Bills controlled most aspects of the game, but Kansas City showed they had heart and came back to score 14 points in the fourth quarter.

This post will be easier to write than the past few weeks, as I saw several areas where the Chiefs needed to improve. First though, let’s start with the areas I touched on last week. My main complaints from week 9’s game against the Jets were about special teams, wide receivers, run defense, and throwing the ball in short yardage situations.

Special teams didn’t look awful, but I had some serious beef with De’Anthony Thomas in this game. I will discuss him more later, believe me.

The wide receivers still didn’t get a touchdown, but they’ll be excluded from my list this week. At this point of the season, fans are aware that the receivers suck and that Alex Smith relies on his running backs and tight ends for big plays. No, that’s not an excuse, but it’s safe to say no one has high expectations for anyone other than Dwayne Bowe.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Speaking of Bowe, he had a decent game with eight receptions for 93 yards. He also had an incredible first down catch along the sideline to keep an important offensive drive going. Bowe has had some impressive games, just no touchdowns to show for it. Bowe alone will be the reason the receivers are left off of my list this week.

Kansas City’s run defense didn’t allow a rushing touchdown yet again (although Bryce Brown would have had one had he not fumbled on the play), but the Bills rushed for 111 yards on 22 total carries. The longest run of the day was from Anthony Dixon for 27 yards.

Lastly, I usually get annoyed when Smith is throwing frequently, but it was difficult because Buffalo was doing a good job at stopping Jamaal Charles. I was impressed that the Chiefs kept at what they do best in running the ball and didn’t give up unlike in week one and against the 49ers.

Now onto the fun part. What suggestions do I have for next week? Find out for yourself by clicking on to the next slide.
