Kansas City Royals: World Series Will Return to Kauffman Stadium

facebooktwitterreddit

While nothing good seemed to come from Game 4 of the World Series on Saturday night, at least the Kansas City Royals and San Francisco Giants will for sure return to Kauffman Stadium for Game 6 and Game 7 (if necessary). The Giants took Game 4 in an 11-4 rout of the Royals, tying the series at 2 wins a piece.

More from Kansas City Royals

It was a tough game to watch for several reasons. The Royals were down 1-0 and then took a 4-1 lead in the third inning. Ryan Vogelsong was pulled and the Giants were already turning to their bullpen, which seemed great for the Royals. Some fans might have already thought Kansas City had this game in the bag.

Royals fans were hoping that Jason Vargas could make it through six innings so that the three headed monster of Kelvin Herrera, Wade Davis, and Greg Holland could mow down the rest of the Giants. Sadly, Vargas only made it to the beginning of the fifth inning. He allowed a leadoff double and was replaced with Jason Frasor.

The Royals can still win the series and they can win it in Kansas City. The World Series is coming back to Kauffman Stadium no matter what now.

From there, it wasn’t pretty. Frasor, Danny Duffy, Brandon Finnegan, and Tim Collins all looked bad. Every Royals fan out there should be even more thankful for the trio that is Herrera, Davis, and Holland after Saturday’s game because this bullpen was just atrocious to watch.

I think the worst part about this game was that these are the types of games the Kansas City Royals almost always win. If they can get four or more runs, then their bullpen usually gets the job done. Unfortunately Vargas had to leave early and the bullpen couldn’t get it done in Game 4. Yes it sucks, but the series is now tied at 2.

The Royals can still win the series and they can win it in Kansas City. The World Series is coming back to Kauffman Stadium no matter what now.

Hopefully the Royals can bring home a victory on Sunday in Game 5 to take a 3-2 series lead and clinch the World Series title in Kansas City on Tuesday night in Game 6. Am I getting too far ahead of myself here?

Being on the road has never been too difficult on the Royals, but it will be great for them to return home and hopefully clinch the title in front of a home crowd. Plus, it makes for watching the game on television more bearable, as I get annoyed having to listen to Giants fans celebrate while I’m throwing a temper tantrum.

The boys in blue will have their work cut out for them on Sunday night when they, once again, will face San Francisco ace Madison Bumgarner. Bumgarner tore up the Royals in Game 1 at Kauffman Stadium, but if James Shields can respond with his A-game then the Royals can absolutely take a series lead.
