OL. Kansas City Chiefs. Offensive Line. 1. player. 124.

The Chiefs lost two starters and another player who played starter minutes from last season’s offensive line to free agency. On top of that, starting right tackle Donald Stephenson is serving a 4-game suspension.

This offensive line has been reworked and is full of question marks. Will they be able to protect Alex Smith? Will there be holes for Jamaal Charles to run through.?

As a unit, they were unimpressive in preseason, but who can tell from that sampling. It will interesting to watch how they perform against the Titans. The Chiefs won’t be very successful if Smith is under pressure all day, and Charles can’t find daylight.

. DB. Kansas City Chiefs. The Secondary. 2. player. 124

Bob Sutton’s aggressive, blitzing defense often left the secondary in single man coverage last season. Sutton seemed unable to adjust when the league adjusted to the Chiefs’ ferocious pass rush.

Once opponents starting getting rid of the ball quickly, the Chiefs secondary struggled. Granted, the second half of the season, Kansas City faced better quarterbacks, but Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, and Andrew Luck went 6-0 against the Chiefs after the bye week in 2013.

Will this batch of pass defenders be up to the task? Will Sean Smith and Marcus Cooper be better than they were late in 2013? Will Eric Berry and whatever other safeties play opposite him be able (allowed) to help the corners?

We shall see.

3. player. 124. . WR. Kansas City Chiefs. Wide Receivers

Dwayne Bowe had an unforgettable season in 2013 with only 57 receptions, 673 yards, 5 touchdowns. Still, he is the best wide receiver on the roster.

Unfortunately, the Chiefs won’t even have his services against the Titans, as Bowe will be serving a 1-game suspension.

Who, if anyone, will step up for the Chiefs? The options are not terribly appealing. Donnie Avery, Frankie Hammond, Junior Hemingway, A.J. Jenkins, Albert Wilson, and De’Anthony Thomas are the candidates.

While Thomas has the look of a play maker, Albert Wilson is an intriguing option. He looked good at times in preseason, and it will be interesting to see if he can produce when it counts. This season will look much more promising if someone can emerge as a legitimate target for Smith on the outside.
