Conner Frankamp saw little playing time for most of last season but played himself into some minutes late in the year. His biggest asset down the stretch is that he knew how to protect the basketball.

In 225 minutes a floor time as a freshman, Frankamp turned the ball over just 3 times. That is an impressive figure considering that he is a guard, and has the ball in his hands a good percentage of the time.

Frankamp has the reputation on a great shooter, but he struggled on that front badly his first season with the Jayhawks. He hit just 34.4% from the field, and just 31.3 from 3-point range.

If Conner Frankamp is going to be the starting point guard, he will need to bring up his shooting percentages quite a bit.

Another worry with Frankamp is that he showed little ability to penetrate off the dribble. While he protected the ball, and valued possessions, he will need to do more within the offense to get full consideration as a point guard.

Frankcamp certainly looks to be more suited to be a shooting guard than a point guard, but his ability to not turn the ball over is definitely in his favor. He didn’t display great defensive skills, but he wasn’t brutal either.

He may lack a little quickness to stay in front of the best guards which may cost him the starting point guard job.
