NUMBER 64 of 100
This is the third year in-a-row that Derrick Johnson has made the players countdown.
DJ is coming off a very successful 2013, one in which he earned himself another trip to the Pro-Bowl and lead the team in tackles (107). He accounted for 4.5 sacks, 2 interceptions and a game clinching fumble recovery against the Houston Texans. (stats via NFL.com)
Johnson is the heart and soul of the Chiefs defense and has been for quite sometime. In case you haven’t see it, here’s a link to his KCChiefs.com “under the helmet”, a series in which they mic up a player during a game and follow it with an interview. It gives you tremendous insight to just how important DJ is to the Chiefs defense.
Number 56 has been one of the most consistent players on the roster since 2009. It’s hard to believe that he’s been in Kansas City for 10 season’s already as I can still remember being stoked when the Chiefs drafted him.
Pro Football Focus had DJ at number 72 on their top 101, so he’s actually rated higher according to the players.
