6) LORENZO CAIN – CENTER FIELD
Despite missing 24 games thus far, Lorenzo Cain has earned the 3rd highest WAR in the American League among center fielders at 2.4. Cain hasn’t even played enough yet to officially qualify for the league lead in any category, so a 2.4 WAR at this point is impressive.

Though known more for his glove than his bat, Cain is having a career year offensively. His 2014 slash through June is .315/.351/.440/.791. His average would be the best in the league among center fielders, and 5th overall, if he had enough at bats to qualify.
He has just 3 home runs, but he has produced 14 doubles, 2 triples, and 7 stolen bases. He also has 35 RBI – the third highest total for AL center fielders.
Cain’s Ultimate Zone Rating is 9.0 thus far. Only Jackie Bradley Jr.’s 11.7 is higher among those that play Cain’s position, even with the time Cain has missed thus far.
Cain has probably earned a place as an All-Star but there is no way six Kansas City Royals are going to be selected , and because of the time spent on the DL, Lorenzo Cain is probably going to be one of those deserving players left off the roster.
