Number 5: Mike McCarthy

Mike McCarthy began his professional coaching career with the Kansas City Chiefs in 1993 as the offensive quality control specialist. He was later promoted to quarterbacks coach where he helped develop Rich Gannon, Elvis Grbac, and Steve Bono before taking the same job with the Green Bay Packers in 1999.

McCarthy helped Brett Favre have a career year at the time, but was released along with the entire Packers coaching staff after just one season. McCarthy moved onto the New Orleans Saints as an offensive coordinator the next season and earned himself 2000 NFL Assistant Coach of the Year.

In 2006, McCarthy made his way back to Green Bay, this time as the head coach. Since, he’s helped to develop Aaron Rodgers into one of the best quarterbacks in the league and won Super Bowl XLV. He’s one of the better head coaches in the league right now and only got better since starting his career with Kansas City. Mike McCarthy makes the list at number 5.
