12. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Record: 1-1

Previous Ranking: 12 (Trend: — )

Last Week: Mississippi State 51, Alcorn State 7

This Week: at Auburn

Next Week: vs Troy

Mississippi State cruised to their first victory of the season over Alcorn State. Dak Prescott threw two touchdown passes in relief of Tyler Russell, who was out with a concussion he suffered against Oklahoma State. The Bulldogs also limited their use of several of their starters other than Russell.

They’ll need them back this week as they’ll travel to Auburn for their first SEC game of the season. Five of the eight teams on MSU’s conference schedule are ranked, so they need to win games against teams like Auburn if they want a shot at making a bowl game this season. Auburn, Kentucky, and Arkansas are the three unranked SEC teams on their schedule. MSU lost to 13-ranked Oklahoma State last week.
