The Kansas City Chiefs won their third straight game against a playoff caliber opponent. Where does Kansas City go from here?

There may not have been a more heavily touted Thursday Night Football match up this year than the Kansas City Chiefs vs the Oakland Raiders. It did not fail to deliver. Some people will point to the final box score and say it was a relatively boring game. Those people did not actually watch what happened. The Chiefs prevailed against another tough foe despite some daunting mishaps.

I will tell you right now that the Chiefs did not play the best game they could have played. However, do not mistake that as saying it was an ugly game. While the Kansas City offense didn’t find the endzone outside of the second quarter, the Chiefs did move the ball pretty well. It’s not their fault that the refs apparently had pre-programmed penalties to call.

What we did see from the Chiefs was almost unlike anything a KC fan could even recollect. Next time someone tells you Alex Smith can’t throw the deep ball, tell them to watch this game. Smith was absolute dynamite tonight. His five best throws of the game all came on deep passes. He absolutely lit up the Raiders secondary.

Tyreek Hill Is A Name To Remember

More from Kansas City Chiefs

My only complaint when the Kansas City Chiefs drafted Tyreek Hill this year was that I thought he was too similar to what they had in DeAnthony Thomas. Ok, I was pretty wrong on that one. Hill’s talent exceeds that of Thomas…and I will argue DAT is one of the better weapons in the NFL. Tyreek Hill is simply a next level athlete. He is what everyone thought Percy Harvin was going to be.

With his most recent performance, Tyreek Hill has now accounted for nine touchdowns in his rookie campaign. Yeah, that’s pretty good. The fact that Hill can now be mentioned in the same sentence as Gale Sayers is also impressive. However, that is not as impressive as the fact that the KC rookie stands alone as the only player with a receiving, rushing, kick return, and punt return touchdown in their rookie season. He is special.

Check out what I had to say about him in the preseason…

The Defense Stands Firm

Over the past couple of weeks, Kansas City Chiefs fans have grown accustomed to timely turnovers and big plays. That was not the case this week against the Raiders. Instead, Chiefs fans were treated to a classic defensive performance that featured good coverage and solid tackling. The end result was a 0 in the turnover column, but just 13 points allowed. I’ll take it.

The common thinking in the NFL is that you can’t rely on turnovers. Well, I would beg to differ when you are talking about a team that consistently take the ball away. The Chiefs have done it against most of their opponents this year. However, the Raiders did not give the ball away. That makes the Chiefs defensive performance all the more impressive.
