The Kansas City Chiefs have a lot to be proud of after going 9-7 and barely missing out on the playoffs. For one, the team posted a winning record for the second straight year, which the Chiefs hadn’t done since 2005-2006.

Second, the team suffered several season ending injuries early on, but other players stepped up and helped Kansas City win games. Lastly, the Chiefs closed out their season with a win, which put the fans in a much better mood.

So, what were some of the highlights from the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2014 season? Let’s take a look!

Week 4: Monday Night Football VS New England Patriots

The Chiefs were 1-2 going into their week 4 matchup against the New England Patriots at home in Arrowhead Stadium. Arrowhead was going for the loudest outdoor stadium record on primetime television plus the Chiefs were coming off a big win against the Dolphins the week prior.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

I had the pleasure of attending this game and it was the best Chiefs game I have attended. I had a good feeling going into the game that the Chiefs would be able to come away with a victory in this one, but I had NO idea that things would lean entirely in Kansas City’s favor.

The Chiefs led 17-0 at half time and set the noise record in the first half. It was so loud and so rocking in Arrowhead Stadium that I couldn’t hear my friend standing right next to me.

The Chiefs’ offense ended up putting 41 points on the board in this game, but they couldn’t have run away with this game unless the defense came through too. Kansas City’s defense picked Tom Brady off twice and also caused him to fumble the ball twice (although he did recover one of those). It was a great game for Kansas City and one that I’ll remember for a long time.

I think the cooler part about this game was that since this loss, the Patriots have looked unstoppable. It proves that the Chiefs can beat good teams, which is something they struggled with in 2013.
