KC Royals: Jarrod Dyson Says ALCS Won’t Return to Baltimore

facebooktwitterreddit

Jarrod Dyson is a confident guy. Every KC Royals fan knows that. Dyson proved that even more so on Sunday when he told ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick that he doesn’t expect the ALCS to return to Camden Yards in Baltimore.

"“I’ll just tell you this, man: If we win Game 3, it’s going to be hard for them to sit there and look themselves in the mirror and say, ‘We can win the next four,’ ” Dyson said. “That’s tough to do, man. Everything must click. I’m just being honest.—-“If we take Game 3, I guarantee there are going to be multiple people in that clubhouse over there saying, ‘Man, there’s no way we’re going to beat these guys four games in a row.’ It can be done, but everybody ain’t gonna be on the same page, I don’t think. There are going to be some people ready to go home. There are going to be some people not cheering in the dugout — just like if it was vice versa on this side. It might be the same way.”"

The Kansas City Royals have played well in the postseason and currently hold a 2-0 series lead over the Baltimore Orioles in the ALCS. The Royals kicked off their magical playoff run by defeating the Oakland Athletics in a crazy 12 inning game at Kauffman Stadium and then went on to sweep the Los Angeles Angels, who were the best team in the American League.

More from Kansas City Royals

Yesterday the Royals took a 6-4 lead in the ninth inning to take Game 2 from the O’s. The team has the day off on Sunday and the series will be played in Kansas City on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (if needed).

The Royals have depended strongly on great defense, pitching, bullpen, and the ability to steal bases. The stolen base part is where Jarrod Dyson has shined for the KC Royals.

Dyson has played a huge role in getting the Kansas City Royals to this point, as he and fellow pinch runner Terrance Gore have utilized their speed to steal bases and make opposing pitchers and defenses sweat.

"“I don’t think [the Orioles] expected us to come over there and play as well as we played,” Dyson said. “A lot of people think we’re playing on pure luck. But I feel like it’s pure determination, belief and will. I feel like these guys really have their minds set and they’re hungry for a World Series.”"

Dyson hasn’t had a stolen base against the Orioles yet, but has been caught stealing twice. On Friday’s matchup, the call of Dyson being caught was questionable. It looked like he might have been pushed off second base. I agree with the out call in Game 2 though.

I kind of wish Dyson would keep his mouth shut about this kind of stuff. I get that he’s fired up, all of the KC Royals players are, but he shouldn’t give Baltimore any motivation to play harder.

A few Orioles chimed in with responses to Dyson.

"“I believe that we’re coming back [to Baltimore],” outfielder Nelson Cruz told reporters. “What’s important is what we believe here. It doesn’t matter what people think outside these doors. That’s my only answer.”—-Added Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph: “I’m not worried about what he says. We’ve got bigger fish to fry than that. He’s probably trying to make it [bother us], but come on.”"

One thing’s for sure. The Kansas City Royals are making all of their fans proud right now and we’re definitely enjoying the ride!
