The Royals lost their 2nd game in a row in their showdown with the Tigers, falling to Detroit 4-2 after Jarrod Dyson made a critical base-running error that killed a buddy 9th inning Royals rally.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Right now, the weak Kansas City offense is killing their playoff hopes. Somehow, the Royals only managed to plate 2 runs despite 10 hits and 5 walks.

After the loss, the Royals have not only fallen into a tie for the A.L. Central lead with the Tigers, they are also mired in a 3-way tie for the second wild card spot with Detroit and Seattle.

I suppose it wasn’t reasonable to expect the Royals to maintain their scorching pace in August, but their recent offensive struggles threatens to kill their post-season hopes.

The fallout from the Chiefs poor performance in Sunday’s 26-10 defeat by the Titans with gale-force winds. GM John Dorsey pulled off 15 roster moves on Tuesday, including 6 roster moves and significant turnover on the practice squad.

I must confess, that I admire Dorsey’s determination to improve his talent, but I can’t help but wonder if desperation has set in at One Arrowhead Drive.

Meanwhile, Sporting KC goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum is up for Save of the Week in KC’s 2-1 loss to New England. I guess that’s good news, but Sporting needs to find a way to break out of their 4-match losing streak.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

"John Dorsey made 15 moves today, including releasing primary backup Daniel Sorensen, moving Derrick Johnson and Mike DeVito to the injured-reserve list, and activating Dwayne Bowe from the suspensions list. Several moves were made to the practice squad and the Chiefs signed two defensive linemen in an effort to improve the defensive line.atens to kill their post-season hJarrod Dyson made a critical base-running error that killed a buddy 9th inning Royals rally.they are also mired in a 3-way tie for the second wild card spot with Detroit and Seattle"

KANSAS CITY ROYALS

"Fortunately for both the Royals and Danny Duffy, it appears as though they have dodged a bullet. Duffy has been diagnosed with inflammation in his rotator cuff, and will miss his next start. Right now, it appears as though a few days of rest may be enough, as his shoulder is considered structurally sound."

  • Royals Review – Are the KC Royals the new version of Moneyball updated for 2014?

"So how do you build an offense on a budget when everyone knows that walks are important, and no one is ever going to stop thinking that HR are important?Contact. Lots and lots and lots of contact. The Royals have struck out more than 100 times fewer than any other team. They have walked 20 fewer times than any other team. If you play the Royals, the ball will always be in play."

MISSOURI TIGERS

"It was impressive enough for the associated press, who moved the Tigers up four spots in their rankings from No. 24 to No. 20 in the latest poll. They remain one of eight SEC teams to make the Top 25, still two weeks removed from the start of conference play."

There you have it KC fans, the news Around the Kingdom.
