Tyreek Hill has had a rough 2024 season. So far, Hill has 37 receptions on 60 targets for 462 yards and two touchdowns. Hill's 462 receiving yards means he's only averaging 51.3 yards per game, which is 55 yards lower than the 106.3 yards he's averaged in his first two seasons with the Dolphins.

Hill's drop in production this season has two major factors. First, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missed four games after suffering his fourth concussion in two years.

In Tagovailoa's absence, the Dolphins started three different quarterbacks. All three quarterbacks failed to run the same style of offense Tagovailoa does, and head coach Mike McDaniel failed to adjust.

The other contributing factor to Hill's lack of production is a nagging wrist injury. According to an ESPN article by Dolphins beat reporter Marcel Louis-Jacques. Hill told reporters he has been dealing with a wrist injury since a joint practice in August against the Washington Commanders.

Despite that, Louis-Jacques reports that Hill won't have surgery on his wrist until the offseason.

Clearly, Hill's wrist injury isn't a huge hindrance to his play if he's willing to wait to get surgery till after the season. Nonetheless, it's a discouraging factor to consider as he gets one year older.

After this season, the 30-year-old receiver has two years left on his four-year deal with the Dolphins. However, the Dolphins do have the opportunity to opt out of his contract and pay the dead cap.

While that's unlikely to happen if Hill continues to play like he has the rest of the season, it's not impossible. If the Dolphins did decide to cut Hill, a possible reunion in Kansas City would be a possibility.
