Whether it emanates from the desire of Kansas City Chiefs fans or by comments from Tyreek Hill himself, the murmurs of a potential return to the team that made him a household name have been rather constant.
For those Chiefs fans still holding out hope that a reunion is possible, let's hope you aren't holding your breath while you wait for it to happen. The All-Pro wide receiver is already up to his old tricks this offseason, and the Miami Dolphins are learning of it in real-time.
Hill's desire to race against Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles is a topic that has been discussed ad nauseam, we'll believe that happens when we see it. What Hill announced during his time with the media on Wednesday was something new altogether. The wide receiver plans on hopping on a plane immediately after the Dolphins finish OTAs on June 12 to fly across the country to compete in a 100-meter race in Los Angeles on June 13 against "some random guys."
Tyreek Hill says he would try for 2028 Olympics but he’d prefer to do it in track rather than flag football.

He says he has a “warm up” 100M race planned June 13 in Cali (aiming for 10-flat) then wants to face Noah Lyles. He’s back focused on speed & endurance this offseason. pic.twitter.com/TKXf12lElQ
Not only is this a potential risk to Hill's health, as workouts in OTAs are far different than prepping the body to push itself to the limit like Hill will on the track, but it is a competition that seemingly no one from Miami's organization knew was taking place.
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel was in the dark about the entire plan before being asked about Hill's plans during his time with the media. McDaniel did his best to brush it off as a non-issue, but there is simply no way that he was pleased to find out in this manner that his star wide receiver was planning to jet set across the country to race a bunch of "random guys."
No matter how talented Hill may be, these are the kind of distractions that make Andy Reid and the Chiefs front office happy with their decision to ship the All-Pro wideout out of town when they did.
