The Kansas City Chiefs have had to let certain players go, whether in free agency or through the trade market, over the last few years. This offseason, the Chiefs saw veteran safety Justin Reid leave KC to sign with New Orleans on a three-year deal.

Then, in the previous offseason, Kansas City parted ways with standout cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, who was coming off a stellar 2023 season. We also can’t forget about the Tyreek Hill trade to the Miami Dolphins three years ago in the 2022 offseason.

While Chiefs fans have moved on from the Hill trade, as Kansas City has done a good job of bolstering the WR core, the Sneed trade is still fresh in their minds.

The Chiefs sent Sneed and a 2025 seventh-round pick to the Tennessee Titans for a 2025 third-round pick and a 2024 seventh-round selection. It was a bold move by the Chiefs, but the gamble paid off as Sneed struggled in his first season with the Titans.

The veteran cornerback signed a four-year, $76.4 million extension with the Titans, but played in five games last season. Sneed was hindered by a quad injury, which put a huge damper on his first year in Nashville.

When he played, the veteran defensive back posted a 54.2 completion percentage allowed on targets, but had a 91.8 pass rating allowed when targeted, and gave up a home run.

That said, the former Chiefs standout is singing a different tune this offseason as he’s healthy and looking to bounce back in 2025.

"Getting healthy, I’m healthy as I’ve been. Last year, my first year, didn’t go as planned but its time to come out and show the world what God’s been instilling in me this entire year, I’m ready to get back on the field. That’s my life, that’s what I do for a living. I have to remind everyone who L’Jarius Sneed is."

In his last year with the Chiefs, Sneed recorded 78 combined tackles, 14 pass deflections, five tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery. He also had a 51.0 completion percentage allowed on targets and a 56.2 pass rating allowed when targeted.

Titans fans hope Sneed can turn back the clock to the player he was with the Chiefs in 2023, because if not, Tennessee will have buyers remorse for giving him that huge extension.
