The Chiefs are focused on winning a third straight Super Bowl, though some fans are already dreaming of potential offseason acquisitions. With uncertainty at wide receiver outside of Xavier Worthy, Kansas City could have the opportunity to trade for Jets star Garrett Wilson.

Reports suggest that Wilson could ask for a trade. Nothing is set in stone but if Wilson does want out, the Chiefs would be the perfect team to join. Pairing Wilson with Worthy, Rashee Rice (pending his potential suspension), and Patrick Mahomes would instantly give Kansas City the NFL's scariest offense.

Travis Kelce is approaching the end of his career and the Chiefs need to begin transitioning to life without him. Wilson is a dynamic threat and his unhappiness in New York could give Kansas City the perfect chance to strike.

Chiefs May Have Opportunity to Pursue Jets WR Garrett Wilson in Offseason

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Wilson requesting a trade from the Jets is in the realm of possibilities given the team's precarious quarterback situation. Rapoport notes a change in GM in New York could also lead to Wilson's exit if the new regime would rather use the disgruntled wideout as a bargaining chip for a QB.

Still just 24 years old, Wilson has been among the AFC's top wideouts from the moment he was drafted. He's eclipsed 80 catches and 1,000 yards in all three seasons he's played despite some truly horrific quarterback play. Just imagine what he could do with Mahomes and Andy Reid.

Acquiring Wilson wouldn't be cheap, and Brett Veach typically prefers to stockpile draft picks to get young talent on the roster. That makes this an unlikely proposition, though the Jets' asking price could go down if Wilson forces their hand.

So far this season, Wilson has caught 97 of 149 targets for 1,053 yards and seven TDs. It's easy to envision him coexisting with Worthy, Rice, and Kelce, to say nothing of the possibility that Kansas City brings DeAndre Hopkins or Hollywood Brown back too.

Wilson still has one year left on his rookie deal, so acquiring him would mean a lengthy extension as well. Giving Mahomes Wilson, Rice, and Worthy would represent the best, most diverse group of weapons he's ever had, helping the organization maximize his prime.

The Chiefs don't need to trade for Wilson to keep winning Super Bowls. That said, he could be the cherry on top that keeps this dynasty rolling for years to come.
