With the Kansas City Chiefs acquiring star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans on Wednesday, many fans thought that former second-round pick Skyy Moore would be the odd man out and possibly cut.

However, the 24-year-old receiver won’t have to worry about being cut based on this latest news from the team. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Kansas City announced they are placing Moore on injured reserve due to a core muscle injury.

The former second-round pick was viewed as a potential cut candidate in the preseason, but the Chiefs decided to keep him on the 53-man roster. The 5-foot-10 wideout hasn’t given the Chiefs much of anything this season.

Moore has appeared in six games but hasn’t registered a catch or target in the passing game. At the same time, the young pass catcher received some action on special teams as he had two kick returns for 43 yards.

The former Western Michigan standout has played 20 percent offensive (career-worst) and 12 percent special teams snaps this season.

For his career, Moore has 43 receptions (74 targets) for 494 yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs thought they were getting a starting-caliber receiver in the 2022 draft, but he hasn't lived up to his expectations.

With Moore heading into injured reserve, the Chiefs must fill his spot on the 53-man roster.

One potential option for Moore’s replacement is fan-favorite wide receiver Nikko Remigio, who has some special teams experience. Remigio is currently on the Chiefs’ practice squad but made a lot of noise in training camp this summer.
