The Kansas City Chiefs have many positions of need to fill this offseason. Among them is cornerback. Although the Super Bowl loss exposed the needs at left tackle and wide receiver, reloading at cornerback is paramount.
Outside of Trent McDuffie, Kansas City's cornerback room struggled after Jaylen Watson suffered an injury this past season.
That said, the secondary didn't automatically become lockdown when Watson returned for the playoff run. For instance, Watson let up a 42-yard touchdown to DeVonta Smith in the Super Bowl. As a result, the Chiefs need to keep all options open this offseason.
This includes one of Xavier Worthy's former Texas Longhorn teammates, Jahdae Barron. On X, Worthy made a clear statement suggesting that he wants to reunite with his former teammate, saying, "Jahdae Barron to the Chiefs."

Should the Chiefs Draft Jahdae Barron?
Barron joined the Longhorns in 2020 and spent five seasons with the team. As a true freshman, he played in five games and recorded three tackles and a pass deflection. During the 2021 and 2022 seasons, Barron played in 22 games, recording 96 tackles, 13 TFLs, and two interceptions.
In 2023, Barron continued to dominate, gathering 60 tackles, five TFLs, one interception, and six pass deflections in 14 games. This past season was his best, as he netted the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's best defensive back.
En Route to that award, Barron recorded 67 tackles, three TFLs, five interceptions, and 11 pass deflections. Furthermore, he held the nation's third-best overall defensive grade for a cornerback (90.7), and the nation's second-best coverage grade (91.1), per PFF.
Kansas City could use a defensive back with the sort of upside to pair with McDuffie. However, the likelihood Barron falls to the Chiefs in the second round seems low, given his production. Even so, taking him in the first round would be a huge mistake with their needs on the offensive line,
Nevertheless, Worthy's plea for Barron to be a Chief in 2025 is an interesting proposition.
