The Kansas City Chiefs are in Week 3 of training camp, and the battles on the team are taking place. Everyone is looking to put their best foot forward, and wide receiver Rashee Rice is one of them.
After undergoing a season-ending knee injury in 2024, he is looking to make a massive comeback in 2025, but suffered a setback on Wednesday. According to Pete Sweeney of Arrowhead Pride, Rice is dealing with a groin injury. Sweeney added that Rice was at practice and worked with trainers to the side.
A little context here: Rice attended practice and worked with trainers off to the side. He seemed to be working through it. Better-case scenario than absent.

Chiefs WR Rashee Rice Dealing with Groin Injury
Like Sweeney added, it was better news that Rice was working with trainers instead of being completely absent. Nonetheless, this isn't the development fans want to hear. Xavier Worthy missed time this summer with a concussion, while Marquise Brown had to sit out a few practices due to an ankle injury.
Now Rice is the latest WR who's dealing with any sort of injury. This will be something to keep an eye on going forward. Throughout the first few weeks of camp, Rice has picked up right where he left off. He was getting open with ease and was one of Patrick Mahomes' favorite targets.
The Chiefs' first preseason game will be on Aug. 9 against the Arizona Cardinals, and it seems like Rice won't be out there. Whether or not he gets out there for the following two games remains to be seen, but getting him some game reps ahead of the regular season would be ideal.
KC opens the season on Sept. 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers in an AFC West bout. That's a tough opening game, considering it's a division rival and it's the team Rice suffered his season-ending injury against last year.
Regardless, it's a great first matchup for fans, and they will want to see Rice out there. There will likely be reports that emerge indicating the severity of the injury, and they hope it isn't anything serious. The Chiefs just want to have Rice ready to go for the regular season, and this injury is the biggest hurdle in his way.
The next four weeks are critical in terms of rest. Once the calendar turns over to September, it'll be full steam ahead for the next five to six months. And everyone in Kansas City wants Rice to be out there.
