The Kansas City Chiefs have often been attached to New York Jets running back Breece Hall in the rumor mill. It is a move that makes sense for both sides when you look at the respective rosters. Hall no longer fits the timeline of a winless Jets roster that appears rudderless a season after attempting to turn around the franchise on the shoulders of an aging Aaron Rodgers. New York's misery serves as the Chiefs' opportunity, with no target being more enticing than Hall.
For the Chiefs, it is simple in the fact that Isiah Pacheco hasn't lived up to expectations, and you need to make a move to take pressure off Patrick Mahomes. Hall further opened the door to this by putting out #Free20 on Instagram. It is hard to take this as anything other than an indication that Hall is asking out of a winless situation in New York. There simply isn't another way to read the comment, and it is understandable when you look at the wasted potential of the Jets over the last half-decade. Such a miserable organization trading one of its best playmakers wouldn't at all come as a surprise.
Chiefs Potential Trade Target Opens the Door to Potential Move with Latest Decision
Hall has still managed to average nearly five-yards-per-carry catching 17 passes while adding 410 rushing yards in a completely dysfunctional offense. It is fun to imagine what these numbers might be if Hall had the benefit of playing with Mahomes and a far more talented offense. Adding in Rashee Rice and Hall within the same couple of weeks would push the Chiefs far away from early-season struggles into being one of the best offenses in the league.
The back being so obviously open to being dealt makes the move all the easier to sell to the front office and fan base. It is hard to imagine the playmaker is going to prefer any team over the Chiefs. It is hard to pick against an organization that has been to three straight Super Bowls and appears destined for a fourth.
It is simply hard to see a real threat in the AFC when the Chiefs' roster is fully healthy, and this will be especially the case if Hall joins the franchise. You're going from the league's messiest franchise to one that is instantly going to elevate your talent and put you into Super Bowl contention.
Hall's post this week isn't just about whether or not the Chiefs should chase the rusher, but answers the question of how willing he is to leave the Jets. Throwing the door wide open and making it clear that the Chiefs must chase the playmaker.
