Whew, can you imagine if the Chiefs had issues at wide receiver? Or even special teams?

Wouldn't that be awkward?...Oh, oops.

Chiefs' preseason breakout star WR Ihmir Smith-Marsette not only found the end zone to open the scoring in Panthers vs. Bears on Thursday Night Football, but he did so in spectacular fashion. See the stellar special teams TD below.

Smith-Marsette showcased impressive wheels here, breaking a tackle before making multiple impressive cuts to shake defenders and race to the end zone.

The 2021 fifth-round pick out of Iowa became a fan favorite in Chiefs Kingdom back in August, catching nine passes for 195 yards and two TDs in the preseason. There was chatter he could make the 53-man roster, though that dream did not come to fruition.

Despite being used in limited fashion, with no targets or catches in 2023, Smith-Marsette pops off the screen seemingly every time he's on the field.

Kansas City has solutions to its wide receiver problem in-house, though it's a bit embarrassing to see a player the Chiefs released produce the most exciting play of this Panthers vs. Bears matchup.

The Chiefs' special teams unit routinely makes mistakes and could be an issue moving forward, though I ultimately have faith we'll find a solution.

Unfortunately, it seems we let one possible option slip through our fingers.
