The Kansas City Chiefs are one of the four teams that aren’t playing on Sunday as they had their Week 1 opener on Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens.

However, Chiefs fans will watch on Sunday to see how the rest of the AFC West and former Kansas City players perform in Week 1. That said, one former Chiefs player is already in the headlines for the wrong reasons to start the season.

In a statement released by the Miami Dolphins via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, star wide receiver Tyreek Hill was pulled over for a traffic violation one block from the stadium and was briefly detained by police. However, Hill has since been released.

The team also said that several teammates saw the incident and stopped to offer their support. The former Chiefs wide receiver and the other players involved arrived at the stadium safely and will be available for the game.

Anytime you hear about a player getting pulled over by the police, it gives a negative impression of something gone wrong.

However, thankfully, Hill wasn’t arrested and was released to get ready for Sunday’s season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The superstar wide receiver is entering his third year with the Dolphins after being traded by the Chiefs in Mar. 2022.

Last season with the Dolphins, Hill continued his dominance as one of the best wide receivers in the league. The former Chiefs standout recorded 119 receptions (171 targets) for 1,799 yards (career-high) and 13 touchdowns.

Last month, the 30-year-old wide receiver signed a three-year, $90 million restructured contract extension, keeping him in Miami until 2026. Hill is set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2027.
