Travis Kelce Could Break Legendary Jerry Rice Record Against Ravens
By Joe Summers
After a spectacular two-TD performance in Sunday night's playoff win over the Bills, Travis Kelce has a legitimate chance to become the most prolific receiving threat in postseason history.
He and Patrick Mahomes already overtook Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski for the most TDs between any duo in the playoffs, and now Kelce can break an abusrd record set by none other than Jerry Rice himself.
With six catches, Kelce will tie Rice for the most receptions by any player in the postseason. Given he's got 12 catches through his first two playoff games, I'm confident the future Hall of Famer will get it done.
Travis Kelce Playoff Stats: Chiefs' TE On Verge of Breaking Jerry Rice Record
Even in what's considered a down year for Kelce, he's still one of the most singularly dominant receiving threats in the NFL. He's Mahomes' most trusted target, and he came through in a massive way against the Bills.
Now, he can etch his name into the history books forever. Should he return for another season next year, it's likely he'll only continue to build on his untouchable legacy.
Rice's records were always considered unreachable. The fact that Kelce may surpass them is a testament to his talent and work ethic, but also to this golden era of Chiefs football.
You can't catch passes in the playoffs if you don't get there, after all, so Kelce's opportunity is also a result of the Chiefs' recent dominance. We're lucky, folks, and we should enjoy every moment of greatness that we can.
