The L'Jarius Sneed trade has officially been processed and both the Chiefs and Titans formally recognized the deal on social media, putting to bed concerns throughout the week that something may be amiss with his physical.

Kansas City now officially has $19.8 million in cap space freed up that they can use on other free agents, though the most significant piece of news was that the Minnesota Vikings nearly landed Sneed's services for a better package than Tennessee sent.

Minnesota ultimately backed out due to concerns about Sneed's knee, but it seems they nearly swooped the star cornerback right from under the Titans' feet.

Chiefs Reportedly Considered Trading L'Jarius Sneed to Vikings

According to Pete Sweeney of Arrowhead Pride, "There was discussion regarding Sneed with the Vikings, who considered an offer of a 2024 fourth and 2025 third. Ultimately long-term health concerns made Minnesota withdraw."

Since the Chiefs ultimately only got a 2024 third-round pick and a seventh-round swap, the Vikings deal certainly would have been a bigger haul.

Sneed reportedly was interested in playing for Brian Flores' defense in Minnesota, adding coals to the fire. In the end, the only offer on the table was the one the Chiefs accepted and now Sneed is an AFC foe instead of rebuilding with the Vikings.

In any case, it's sad to see one of the best players of this era go to another team, but I'm fully confident in Brett Veach's ability to find an adequate replacement.

Sportsbooks are confident in Veach too, as the Chiefs remain favored to win the AFC at +350 odds while the Titans are +6000. Provided the defense doesn't take a big step back, Kansas City should find itself in contention for a Super Bowl win yet again.
