Steve Spagnuolo Identifies Surprise X-Factor for Super Bowl
By Joe Summers
Steve Spagnuolo spoke to reporters on Friday prior to the Chiefs' travels to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl and identified one surprising potential x-factor for the big game.
With Charles Omenihu done for the year with a torn ACL, Kansas City needs other players to step up and help replace the star pass rusher's elite production.
Among the guys who need to rise to the occasion? Rookie first-round pick Felix Anudike-Uzomah, according to the Chiefs' defensive coordinator. See what he had to say below.
Chiefs Need DE Felix Anudike-Uzomah to Step Up in Super Bowl
The former Kansas State Wildcat has played sparingly this season, amassing just eight tackles with one forced fumble and half of a sack. He was considered a project given the Chiefs' bevy of defensive linemen and now that depth will need to pay off.
Anudike-Uzomah was extremely productive in college with 20.5 sacks over his last two seasons. The 49ers have a stout offensive line with talented skill position players, so the Chiefs might need all the help they can get.
Even though Anudike-Uzomah hasn't made an impact this year, what better time for the Kansas City native to show up than the Super Bowl?
For a rookie who grew up a Chiefs fan, this is what dreams are made of. Fingers crossed we see the first-round pick make at least one impact play. If he does? We'll soon be planning another parade.
