Chiefs WR Skyy Moore is suddenly a major cut candidate with the final 53-man roster due in under a week. While it looked like Moore had the advantage over Nikko Remigio, special teams coordinator Dave Toub's latest comments flipped that narrative on its head.

Toub told the media that he'd be "pounding the table" for Remigio to make the team, individually calling out the former undrafted rookie as a potential kick returner.

Notably, Moore was not among the players listed as an option. If Remigio is firmly ahead of Moore on special teams, he might be firmly ahead of Moore on the overall roster too.

Dave Toub Will Be "Pounding the Table" for Nikko Remigio to Make Roster

Remigio has long been a favorite in Chiefs Kingdom and despite some early preseason struggles, he's clearly a trusted returner. Moore has failed to deliver on the promise he showed as a 2022 second-round pick, falling to the back of the wide receiver depth chart before ending last season on the Injured Reserve list.

Things could change, but the position group appears to be Rashee Rice, Hollywood Brown, Xavier Worthy, Justin Watson, Mecole Hardman, Justyn Ross, and now Remigio. That last spot may still be up for grabs, though these recent sports seem to indicate Moore is on the outside looking in.

It'd be stunning to see Kansas City give up on a second-round pick so quickly into his career, yet Moore's game hasn't translated the way the organization hoped. He has just 494 career receiving yards and struggles with creating separation and making contested catches.

Perhaps Ross isn't the safe bet to make the team that he appears to be, or maybe Toub will lose the battle to keep Remigio. At this stage, however, I'd bet on Moore being the odd man out.
