Second-year Chiefs offensive lineman Wanya Morris suffered another injury at Wednesday's practice, raising doubt about his potential availability for the team's first preseason game on Saturday against the Jaguars.

Morris went down on Friday as well though didn't miss much time. He's been working at both tackle and guard on the left side of the line after seemingly losing the left tackle battle to rookie Kingsley Suamataia, though multiple injuries complicate matters.

He still participated in individual work, so the coaching staff didn't seem that concerned. Nonetheless, Morris will serve an important role as a swing lineman who can replace a starter should injuries occur, giving these practice reps greater importance.

Chiefs News: OT Wanya Morris Suffers Another Injury

Kansas City prioritized retooling offensive line depth this offseason. After losing Nick Allegretti to the Commanders in free agency, the Chiefs drafted three offensive linemen after spending a third-round pick last year on Morris.

While Morris doesn't appear to be part of the team's starting lineup, his health is still important. Allegretti was the organization's top backup and started in the Super Bowl, so Morris' significance should not be overlooked. He started four games last season in Donovan Smith's place and is trusted in big moments despite likely losing the starting role.

The Chiefs have the rest of the week off of practice before Saturday's preseason game. Morris will have ample time to heal and hopefully he'll be back in action as soon as possible.

We don't yet know if he'll play on Saturday. If he's physically able, it's hard to imagine Morris sitting. He needs these valuable reps, especially at an unfamiliar position like guard, so the coaching staff certainly prefers that Morris plays.

Given his continued participation in those individual drills, it does appear that Morris is okay overall.
