These Royals aren't messing around!

Kansas City has been MLB's most active team this offseason and just made another huge move, acquiring star pitcher Michael Wacha to a two-year, $32 million deal to bolster the pitching staff and signal an intent towards competitive baseball in 2024.

Adding to a rotation that just signed Seth Lugo to a big contract, Wacha immediately becomes one of the Royals' most accomplished pitchers.

Royals News: Team Signs SP Michael Wacha

Wacha is, in my opinion, the Royals' most impressive signing of the offseason to this point.

The 32-year-old had a 14-4 record with the San Diego Padres last year, compiling a 3.22 ERA. That followed up an 11-2 campaign and 3.32 ERA with the Boston Red Sox in 2022. He's a World Series champion from his Cardinals days and brings years of experience and a winning pedigree to Kansas City.

Pairing Wacha with Lugo, Cole Ragans, Brady Singer and Jordan Lyles gives Kansas City a legitimately solid rotation. Recent bullpen moves should bolster our relieving corps and suddenly, the Royals have a true path to contention!

There's still plenty of offseason to go, but the Royals are signaling a clear intention and willingness to spend. This is the best offseason Kansas City has had in years already, and we're just getting started.
