The Royals are officially in the postseason for the first time in a decade, taking on either the Astros or the Orioles pending Sunday's results.

Either way, manager Matt Quatraro has officially set the rotation for the Wild Card round. Cole Ragans will start Game 1, Seth Lugo will start Game 2, and Michael Wacha will go in Game 3 if necessary. It's a magical time for the Royals and the entire city, so getting the team's top pitchers on the hill is a fantastic sign.

Since Kansas City clinched on Friday, Ragans and Lugo will be on full rest, so neither will be at a disadvantage regardless of the matchup.

Royals Officially Set Pitching Rotation for Wild Card Round

It's hard to imagine a better scenario. Ragans and Lugo were both two of the best pitchers in the entire league this year and will get award votes for their tremendous work, while Wacha became one of the most consistent pitchers in the entire sport.

Considering how well the bullpen has played of late, the Royals might have one of the best pitching staffs in the playoffs. With a stellar defense, Kansas City's success will likely depend on the performance of the offense.

During the regular season, Ragans posted a 3.14 ERA with 223 strikeouts in 186.1 innings. Lugo, meanwhile, notched a clean 3.00 ERA with a spectacular 206.2 innings. Wacha had a 3.35 mark but saved his best work for last, holding opponents to a .235 batting average over the last 30 days.

Fans should be thrilled, and it's shaping up to be a magical October in Kansas City.
