Many expect the Royals to be active ahead of MLB's trade deadline to add a bat in the outfield and potentially some bullpen arms as well. While there are several intriguing names seemingly available, one Marlins star was recently named as an ideal fit for Kansas City.

Jazz Chisholm Jr., one of the most exciting young players in the game, could be on the move from Miami, and Bleacher Report believes the Royals are the best fit of any team.

There are a few reasons that I don't think this projected trade makes much sense from Kansas City's perspective, but let's consider what's proposed first.

I love the talent and swagger that Chisholm Jr. brings to the table. He hit 19 home runs with a .761 OPS last year and could help the outfield offense, though his natural position is at second base where Michael Massey is currently turning in a strong season.

Most importantly though, this is way too much for the Royals to surrender in a trade when there are other options on the table. Mitchell is the organization's top-rated prospect, Wallace is second, and Mozzicato is fourth. For a player that isn't even a natural fit for the current roster's needs, that's way, way too much to surrender.

Bleacher Report even admits as much in the proposal, noting, "It might even be easier to imagine the Royals being the ones to say no here. These are their three best prospects, after all, and one of them (Mitchell) was a top-10 draft pick just last year."

Given the bevy of outfield talent across the league, I think J.J. Picollo should be patient and not jump at the first opportunity. This roster is young but has a ton of room to grow. I don't like the idea of risking the future for a chance at glory now.

Maintain a steady process and the results will follow. If Miami was willing to trade Chisholm for a lesser package, I'd listen. I'm not mortgaging the future for him, though.
