2022 - CB Trent McDuffie: A+

Trent McDuffie is one of Brett Veach's best moves since taking over as the Chiefs' General Manager. Not only did he identity an All-Pro talent at a premium position, but he traded ahead of the Buffalo Bills to snag the former Washington Huskie star.

After trading away L'Jarius Sneed this offseason, the Chiefs trust McDuffie to officially become "the man" in the secondary. Thus far, he looks more than up to the task. McDuffie is one of the most physical cornerbacks in the NFL, forcing five fumbles with 80 tackles and three sacks in only his second year en route to earning First-Team All-Pro honors.

It looks like McDuffie will become the first cornerback of the Veach era to earn a long-term extension after his rookie deal, further solidifying the draft-day decisions.

Cornerbacks typically take a few years to blossom in Steve Spagnuolo's complicated and versatile defensive scheme. That McDuffie turned into a star so quickly not only speaks to his talent and worth ethic, but also helped give the Chiefs the league's best defense and a pair of Super Bowl rings.

While Veach pounded the table for Patrick Mahomes as a scout, he didn't have final say on the pick. Thus, I'd argue that McDuffie is the single best draft pick of the Veach era. Fingers crossed he somehow makes an even better one next week.
