The Kansas City Chiefs medical staff was given a poor review by Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy, who suffered a fractured orbital bone in last week’s regular-season opener.

The veteran linebacker did not mince his words when speaking about the treatment or lack thereof from Kansas City’s medical staff on the latest episode of the McCoy and Van Noy podcast.

Van Noy said he was “disappointed” in how the Chiefs handled the situation and had to wait to talk to an ophthalmologist. He also pointed out how it took an entire quarter for someone to talk to him, which he deemed “unacceptable.”

"“I was disappointed in the way the training staff of the Chiefs handled the situation,” Van Noy said (h/t Pro Football Talk). “When things like that hurt, you get hurt, especially something that could be serious like mine was, you’re supposed to rely on the team’s training staff or their doctors, and I was supposed to see an ophthalmologist, which is somebody who checks out eye performance, eye surgery, and they took an entire quarter to get down to talk to me in the locker room, which, to me, is unacceptable, because then you start thinking, What if I was trying to go back in the game? What if I was really, really hurt?"

The veteran defender was not pleased with how everything played out with the Chiefs’ medical staff, especially when you have an injury involving your eye. Van Noy made sure to hammer the point home that Kansas City’s treatment was unprofessional.

The 33-year-old linebacker also highlighted the NFL Players Association Report Card, which gave the Chiefs an F for their training/medical staff. Van Noy added, “The players have given that training room an F. With my experience, I would’ve probably after that gave them an ‘F,’ too.”

If you are a fan of the Chiefs, let alone someone who works in the organization this isn’t the news you want to hear heading into Week 2. Not taking a player’s injury seriously, no matter if they play for the opposing team is wrong.

Hopefully, this trend doesn’t continue for the rest of the season or Kansas City will be looking at another horrible grade.
