The Rashee Rice legal saga took an unfortunate turn on Thursday. A police report obtained by an ABC affiliate in Dallas, Texas, indicates that police found 10.8 grams of marijuana in the Lamborghini Rice admitted to driving.

In Texas, possession of more than seven grams of marijuana qualifies as a crime with a recommended sentence of 180 days of incarceration.

No charges have officially been filed against Rice or the other individuals involved, though Dallas police told reporters they were still gathering information before moving forward.

Rashee Rice Police Report Indicates Potential Jail Time

Rice has posted an apology for his actions and taken responsibility on social media, while his attorney told media on Thursday that Rice will speak within the next week.

He is reportedly fully cooperating with the investigation and answered every question from Dallas police. We don't yet know if the police will use the presence of marijuana to pursue significant charges, but it opens the door for potential jail time for the Chiefs' former second-round pick.

After an excellent rookie season that culminated in a Super Bowl win, Rice was expected to be a foundational piece of the 2024-25 offense.

The NFL hasn't made any official comment, nor have the Chiefs, but both parties are monitoring the situation with expectations they'll take action at some point.

We'll keep you updated on this developing story as more information becomes available.
