The Las Vegas Raiders have long been a laughingstock yet the organization still finds new ways to shoot itself in the foot every year.

With a thrilling QB battle going on in training camp between Gardner Minshew and Aiden O'Connell, the Raiders threw a familiar face into the mix on Tuesday, signing failed journeyman Nathan Peterman to the roster.

Peterman spent 2020 and 2021 with the franchise, appearing only two games while completing three of five pass attempts for 25 yards along with a pair of sacks.

Raiders Sign QB Nathan Peterman in Laughable Move

This isn't necessarily an indication that Peterman will compete for the starting job. It's not nothing though, especially considering some of the negative reports coming out from Raiders camp.

It's been an eventful offseason for Las Vegas. Not only is the organization in its first full year under new head coach Antonio Pierce, but their players drew the ire of Patrick Mahomes with a ridiculous Kermit the Frog doll during practice.

The Chiefs are 16-3 in their last 19 contests with the Raiders, cementing their dominance in what was once a great rivalry. Las Vegas did pick up a victory last year, though Kansas City promptly won the Super Bowl in the Raiders' building to prove who the top team was once and for all.

During his six-year career, Peterman has completed only 53.1% of his passes at 4.5 yards per attempt with four TDs, 13 interceptions, and 12 sacks. He's proven incapable of being an effective NFL starter, so he's the perfect fit for this miserable franchise.

Even though the Raiders had a fun laugh at Mahomes' expense this summer, Chiefs fans are who will keep on laughing throughout the regular season.
